MOTHER, DAUGHTER INJURED DURING CRASH WITH FUEL DELIVERY TRUCK IN RUSH TOWNSHIP

Car Crashes into Back of Fuel Truck, in area of 321 Ben Titus Road, Rush Township, 2-6-2015 (8)A mother and daughter were injured after their vehicle crashed into the back of a fuel delivery truck today (Friday, February 6, 2015) on Ben Titus Road in Rush Township. Emergency personnel were called around 4:00 PM to the area of 321 Ben Titus Road for a two-vehicle accident with possible entrapment involving a fuel delivery truck.
Rush Township Police Sergeant Duane Frederick said a mother and daughter in a light tan 2006 Toyota Camry XLE, traveling west, were injured after their car crashed into the back of a 1990 fuel oil delivery truck stopped in the westbound lane delivering oil. The passenger, Leeann Cheslock, 31, of Beaver Meadows, was transported via PennStar helicopter, which landed at the HT Commons in Hometown,  to St. Luke’s Hospital in Bethlehem. The driver, Melissa Cheslock, 47, also of Beaver Meadows, was transported by McAdoo Aambulance to St. Luke’s Hospital in Coaldale.
Frederick added that the driver of the fuel truck, Tim Postupack, 57, of T.P. Postupack Fuel Oil, was not inside the truck when it was struck.
Responding to the scene or landing zone were Hometown Fire Company, Tamaqua Rescue Squad, Quakake Fire Company, Tamaqua Fire Department, Hazleton EMS, McAdoo Ambulance and others.
Sun glare might have been a factor.
Firefighters on scene stated that the delivery truck’s bumper prevented the car from continuing under the truck and causing more injuries, adding that they were extremely lucky to survive.
That part of Ben Titus Road was closed as Hometown Fire Police volunteers detoured traffic away from the scene.
Hope’s Towing and Collision removed the vehicle.
Rush Township Police are still investigating.
