JUSTUS, THE LOCAL BOYS PERFORMED AT TAMAQUA COMMUNITY ARTS CENTER

Birthday Celebration with Justus and The Local Boys, Community Arts Center, Tamaqua, 1-31-2015 (44)JUSTUS, and their special guests – The Local Boys, performed on Saturday, January 31, 2015, in the recently renovated Performing Arts Hall at the Tamaqua Community Art Center.

Pre-event Information on the event’s Facebook page reads:

“The event will include an evening of classic rock (and/or “blues rock”, if you will) at volume performed by two Tamaqua-based bands.
The Performing Arts Hall has gotten rave reviews for its’ acoustics, expansive stage, professional lighting and comfort.  Also, it is an opportunity for those who are under 21, and for those who may not frequent bars and/or taverns to enjoy an evening of great music.
Birthday Celebration with Justus and The Local Boys, Community Arts Center, Tamaqua, 1-31-2015 (2)According to Buddy Musselman of JUSTUS, “We had to come up with a theme for the evening, so, since Jack Kulp will be 65 years old in January, we figured that that was reason enough to celebrate!”  Jack says he that he can’t believe that he’s still alive, much less still performing at his “ripe old age”!  Kulp says that he’s really looking forward to sharing this “milestone” with all of his friends and family.
The Local Boys (John Frye on guitar from Kaska, T.J. Walker of Tamaqua on drums, and Steve Bloschichak of Frackville on bass guitar) play music from 50’s, 60’s and 70’s.
JUSTUS (guitarists Buddy Musselman of Clamtown and Brian DeLay of Tamaqua, Doug Betz of Tamaqua on bass guitar, Billy Frye of Coaldale on drums, and Jack Kulp of Tamaqua on blues harp, lead and backup vocals), prides themselves in interpreting music that is not often performed by many acts, but is familiar to most folks, and adapting it to their own unique style featuring prominent harmonies and blues harp (harmonica) leads.  As the members will tell you, they don’t arrange and perform the songs “just like the record”.  Otherwise, everyone might just as well stay home and play the record!”
