Frank, a ten-year supporter of Make-A-Wish, received a letter from Make-A-Wish recently and shared it on Facebook.
Some of it reads:
“Your commitment is so wonderful! On behalf of Make-A-Wish Greater Pennsylvania and West Virginia, I want to thank you for holding your holiday light display raising an incredible $878.00.
We so appreciate your efforts in helping to make wishes come true!
I would like you to meet Kiley… Melodies take Kiley to a different place. Her love of music is more than just a hobby – it’s her life. The instruments in her fight against a life-threatening hematologic condition are the flute and the piccolo. Her wish? To play with the Boston Pops Orchestra. And on one magical evening, her wish came true.
Leading up to her orchestra debut, Kiley met with Boston Pops Orchestra conductor, and the head flutist, who organized a private flute lesson, grand tours of Boston and gave Kiley and her family front row seats to rehearsal. That evening, though, was the real grand finale. Kiley became one of the youngest musicians to perform with the Boston Pops Orchestra. Her face glowed as the conductor introduced her to the audience and invited her to join the orchestra on stage for the finale of “Starts and Stripes Forever.”
And Kiley shined. She shared her deepest passion with the world. And the world responded in kind. After playing a solo before a sold-out crowd, Kiley received a standing ovation and the crowd cheered. “It was a once-in-a-lifetime moment,” said Kiley’s mom. “It’s a memory she will never forget.”
And that’s just the beginning, Kiley now plans to make music her career as she studies at the Berklee College of Music in Boston. And with each melody she plays, Kiley will use her memories of that magical night to leave her musical mark on the world.”
On Facebook, Frank stated his appreciation to everyone who made a donation or helped.
