ARE YOU HOMELESS? ANNUAL H.U.D. HOMELESS CENSUS; FREE MEALS THROUGHOUT SCHUYLKILL COUNTY JAN. 28-30, 2015

The U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development is conducting an annual count of the homeless population on one night, nationwide.

This count determines how funding to help the homeless will be distributed in the future. If you are homeless and in need of services, please call the following:

• If you are a veteran, call the Veteran’s Homeless Hotline at (877) 424-3838.
• If you have a mental health diagnosis, call SAM at (570) 621-2700.
• If you are a victim of Domestic Violence, call the SWIC hotline at (570) 622-6220.
• If you are a parent with child, call Children & Youth at (570) 628-1050.
• All others, call Schuylkill Community Action at (570) 622-1995.

If you are homeless and approached, please talk with the volunteers who are there to provide assistance and help.

If you know of someone who is homeless and staying outdoors in a tent or vehicle, please call (570) 621-2890 x105 , so we can include everyone in the count and help them to obtain services.

• Pottsville Soup Kitchen, 504 Mahantongo St., Pottsville: 6:30 p.m. Jan. 28.

• God’s Helping Hands Outlet at Grace Bible Church of Hawk Mountain, 12 Molino Road, Orwigsburg: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Jan. 28.

• God’s Chuckwagon at Teen Canteen, 20 E. Centre St., Mahanoy City: 6 to 7:30 p.m. Jan. 29.

• God’s Chuckwagon at St. Michael’s Church, 114 S. Chestnut St., Shenandoah: 4 to 5:30 p.m. Jan. 29.

• St. Matthew the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, 139 Spruce St., Minersville: noon on Jan. 29.

• Servants To All, 4 S. Centre St., Pottsville: time to be determined on Jan. 29.

• Tamaqua Salvation Army, 105 W. Broad St., Tamaqua: 5:30 to 7 p.m. Jan. 29.

• Community Mission Christian Center, 254 N. Mill St., Saint Clair: 5:30 p.m. Jan. 29.

• New Life in Christ Ministries, 219 Market St., Cumbola: noon Jan. 29 and food bank from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Jan. 30.
