Firefighters had to stretch a fire hose one-third of a mile (1,600 feet) up a snow/ice-covered dirt road to battle a house fire this afternoon (Saturday, January 24, 2015) in East Brunswick Township.
Around 12 PM, emergency responders were dispatched to a basement fire at 422 Indian Run Road (aka 32 Teepee Lane) in the township.
Neighbors said only one fire truck (a utility/brush truck) was able to traverse all the way up Teepee Lane. That truck was used to drag the 5-inch hose up the long road. Other fire apparatus staged at the entrance to Teepee Lane on Indian Run Road and other areas to provide tanker support.
Despite a quick response by emergency responders, the home was destroyed by the fire.

Unofficial information states one of the three pets died in the fire.
A woman at the home suffered a hand injury. No other injuries were reported.
The residents of the home are said to be staying with family.
Both Red Cross volunteers and Tamaqua Salvation Army volunteers stopped to offer assistance to those displaced.
