PRESS RELEASE – A ‘Wild About Winter’ event is being held on Saturday, January 24, 2015 at Hawk Mountain Sanctuary in Kempton.
The event lasts from 11 AM to 3 PM.

Tired of being cooped up indoors? Head to Hawk Mountain and experience the joys of winter with an afternoon of programs:

11 AM: Raptors Up Close! featuring a live hawk or owl.
11 AM – 3 PM: Scavenger Hunt and Geo-caching. Participants for geo-caching should bring a hand-held GPS, if possible. Otherwise, a limited number of units will be made available. More information on the sanctuary’s website.

12 PM to 2 PM: Kids Craft Corner with a focus on a make-and-take-home winter animal and winter habitat creation.
2 PM: Raptors Up Close! featuring a live hawk or owl.

Event includes complimentary hot chocolate and bird-friendly coffee.
The visitor center will also be open.
Trail fees for non-members cost $3 for children ages 6 to 12, $5 for seniors, and $6 for adults. Members are always free.

Hawk Mountain Sanctuary is located 20 minutes from Tamaqua in Albany Township, Berks County. The address is 1700 Hawk Mountain Road, Kempton, PA  19529. Click HERE for directions.
