“Hard shoes to fill.”
Those were the words given by Linda Yulanavage, Executive Director, Tamaqua Area Chamber of Commerce, describing work ethic and teamwork of co-worker Eileen Barron.
After serving 12 years with the Chamber, Barron, who worked as Assistant Director, chose to retire on December 30, 2014.
“It was more than a professional relationship,” added Yulanavage. “She was my rock in the office.”
Barron, who was short on words, simply stated her love for her job and the close friendship it created between Yulanavage and the community.
Prior to the Chamber, Barron worked at the M & T Bank for 16 years. Before that, she worked for the late Howard Miller at North Central Development from 1978 to 1986. Barron added that her office at the Chamber, 114 West Broad Street, also served as her office when she worked at North Central Development.
Yulanavage said Barron was involved in practically all programs of the Chamber, to include festivals, parades, galleries, concert series and so on. Barron said she plans to continue to volunteer with the Tamaqua Historical Society and other related community events.
“Everything had always been a team effort,” added Yulanavage. “She has left a very difficult void to fill.”
