Today’s (Tuesday, January 6, 2015) snowfall resulted in three motor vehicle accidents on Interstate 81.
One female was injured just before 10:45 AM after losing control and flipping her Mustang on Interstate 81 southbound near the McAdoo exit (134) in Delano Township. Firefighters said the driver was able to climb out of the vehicle on his own. She was transported via ambulance to the hospital with serious back, head and other injuries.
A second incident occurred at 11:22 AM at mile marker 137 southbound in Kline Township and involved a box truck and a SUV. The SUV (a blue Trail Blazer) rear-ended the back of the box truck. Both vehicles became stuck along a side embankment. Hope’s Towing was used to remove the vehicles. The woman (from Hazleton) driving the SUV was taken to the hospital with unknown injuries. The driver of the box truck (from Alvarez Trucking in Reading) didn’t suffer observable injuries.
The third accident occurred around 3:30 PM at mile marker 126 northbound. This incident involved an extended cab pickup truck. No serious injuries were noted.
Responding were Ryan Township Fire and Rescue, Delano Fire Company, McAdoo Fire Company, Altamont, Hometown Fire Police, State Police and others.
