Members of the Tamaqua Volunteers group and Tamaqua Salvation Army are giving away over 300 donated desk lamps and floor lamps on Wednesday, December 31, 2014 from 1 PM to 4 PM at the Tamaqua YMCA parking lot.
Anyone, no matter your income or where you live, is welcome to receive a desk lamp and floor lamp. Both lamps are similar in style.
If there are any lamps left after 3 PM, people can come back to receive more lamps until they are all gone.
Event organizer said, “If you want a lamp, simply show up. First come, first serve. Lamps will not be held or reserved.”
Jeaninne Motroni, general manager for Comfort Inn in West Hazleton, said that they are replacing all the desk lamps and floor lamps. She added her pleasure of knowing that the old lamps will be given away rather than thrown out or sold for scrap.
Comfort Inn is a regular supporter of the Tamaqua Volunteer group and Tamaqua Salvation Army. In past years, the inn has donated hundreds of televisions and thousands of bedding supplies to the Tamaqua Volunteers group to be given away during the free monthly giveaways.
In addition, volunteers are desperately needed the same day to help load the lamps in West Hazleton and unload the lamps outside the Tamaqua YMCA. Eagle Transport Group Inc of Hometown donated $100 towards a rental truck. If you can help load or unload, call Andy at (570) 668-1234.
