A mother and her four children lost their home and much of their belongings during a house fire Monday night (December 22, 2014) in Shenandoah.
Emergency responders were called to 131 South Gilbert Street around 9:30 PM for a structure fire. They arrived to see flames and smoke rising from the two-story row home.
Holly Becker, her two boys (ages 4 and 10) and two girls (ages 13 and 15) are currently living in a smaller home on West Atlantic Street.
Becker stated her appreciation to all the firefighters, police officers, paramedics and other emergency personnel for their quick response.
She added her appreciation to the Red Cross, Shenandoah Elementary School teachers, family, friends and community members for their support.
Leilani Becker, Holly’s sister, has created a GoFundMe.com account to raise monetary donations to help her sister buy items lost in the fire. To donate, go to http://www.gofundme.com/j8emi4.
Close members of the family are kindly encouraging donations of money or gift cards, as the family doesn’t have a location to store items. Boyers Food Market, Rite Aid and Wal-Mart offer gift cards.
For more information or ways to help, contact Leilani at (570) 985-4636. Donations can be dropped off or mailed to: Holly Becker, 308 South Main Street (across from Burger King), Shenandoah PA 17976.
