PRESS RELEASE – The Tamaqua Middle School Music Department will present its annual “Holiday Music Program” on Wednesday, December 17, 2014 at 7 PM in the Tamaqua Area Auditorium. The concert will feature performances by the middle school sixth grade band and the middle school choruses.
The Sixth Grade Band under the direction of Marsha Rodgers will open the concert with “Santa Claus Is Comin’ to Town” arranged by Michael Story. They will then play “Christmas Processional” by John Kinyon. The band closes the first half of the program with “Jingle Bell Tones” by Michael Balmages.
The middle school General Chorus comprised of students from grades sixth, seventh, and eighth grades will begin the second half of the evening’s program. The chorus begins with “Sing Noel, Noel” by Sally Albrecht. The concert continues with the chorus singing “Shoheen Sho” an Irish lullaby. “Jingle All the Way” by Sally Albrecht is next followed by the traditional classic “Silver Bells”.
The middle school Select Chorus will close the program with the traditional “Carol of the Bells” arranged by Michael Spina. Their second selection is “O Little Town of Bethlehem.” The concert will close with the chorus singing “Follow That Wondrous Star” and a swinging arrangement of Jolly Old St. Nicholas entitled “Jazzy St. Nick” arranged by Russ Robinson. Both middle school choirs are under the direction of John D. Buglio.
Accompanists for the middle school choirs are Antonetta Gerace, Sierra Petrucci, and Faith Roberts.
The concert is free and open to the public. Doors to the auditorium will open at 6:15 PM.
