A 19-axle oversize load caused a 15 to 20 minute traffic headache for drivers traveling south through Tamaqua today (Tuesday, November 25, 2014).
The load consisted of 4 axles on the pulling truck, 12 axles on the trailer and 3 axles on the pushing truck.
It was escorted by five State Police vehicles and a number of escort vehicles.
Parking was limited on North Railroad Street (SR309) today in preparation for the load to be driven up North Railroad Street (a one-way street).
Witnesses said the truck rested atop the Blue Mountain overnight last night and continued through West Penn, Tamaqua, Hometown and Ryan Township early this morning.
It is unknown what the load was or who was transporting it.
