NO TAX INCREASE EXPECTED FOR RUSH TOWNSHIP; SUPERVISORS DISCUSS NUMEROUS TOPICS DURING REGULAR AND BUDGET MEETING (November 20, 2014); (VIDEOS)

Rush Township Board of Supervisors held their monthly meeting and yearly budget meeting yesterday (Thursday, November 20, 2014) at the Rush Township Municipal Building in Hometown.
All three supervisors were present during the meeting. They are Chairman Shawn E. Gilbert, Vice-Chairman Robert J. Leibensperger and supervisor Jeaninne Motroni.
Numerous items were brought up during both meetings.

Some topics discussed during the monthly meeting included:
– Correspondence from PSATS, Ryan Township Emergency & Rescue Squad, NEPA, PA Township News, Elizabeth Brobst and Susan Strauss.
– Supervisors approved a motion to purchase a 2014 Ford Interceptor Sedan AWD police car from KME Kovatch for $32,438.78. Financing will be for three years starting January 2016.
– Supervisors approved a retroactive motion allowing the Rush Township Fire Police to assist with the Nesquehoning Veterans Day Parade held on November 9, 2014.
– Supervisors approved a motion to authorize Chairman Gilbert to execute temporary and permanent easements from properties involved in the Lincoln Drive Sewer Project.

Some topics discussed during the budget meeting included:
– Supervisors announced that they don’t expect a tax increase.
– Supervisors made a motion to advertise next year’s budget for public review and will vote on it next meeting. They added that residents can view the budget at the township building during regular business hours.
– Supervisors provided the public a draft list of proposed capital improvement projects for 2015. Projects include:
1> Lincoln Street sewer extension.
2> Grove Street grinder pump.
3> Miscellaneous lateral and manhole repairs (Wayne Avenue).
4> Reconstruction at Meadow Avenue and Bnosky.
5> Jones Street paving (to complete & eng. 14/15).
6> Jones Street storm water.
7> Wayne Avenue & Route 309 cross pipe.
8> Wayne Avenue storm crosspipe removal.
9> Wayne Avenue survey/widening.
10> Eli Street to Hometown Avenue (overlay paving).
11> Grove Street paving (Lincoln to Miller – parking both).
12> Crest Street and inlet repairs.
13> Wayne, Frankford & Tamaqua Street int. overlay.
14> Chamay court paving.
