PRESS RELEASE – The recently-expanded Tamaqua YMCA and the community’s restored 1874 train station are featured in Senator David G. Argall’s (R-29) latest monthly television program.

“A Margaret Mead quote comes to mind when discussing the Tamaqua area’s ongoing efforts to bring new jobs and a new spirit to the community,” Argall said. “Mead said, ‘Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed individuals can change the world.’ I think that is a fitting quote for the Tamaqua area, which began its successful revitalization efforts more than two decades ago.”

“Two of the community’s main goals have been assisting the “Save Our Station” efforts to restore the 1874 train station, which is now Vonz Restaurant, as well as to assist the YMCA in its efforts to provide more recreational opportunities for people of all ages,” Argall said.

“This program pays tribute to the efforts of many volunteers to make the Tamaqua area a better place to live, work and raise a family,” Argall said. “These efforts are one of the most rewarding aspects of my job – working with committed volunteers and local officials to find creative solutions to solve local problems.”

The program will air on:

  • Blue Ridge Communications (Channel 13) every Monday at 10 a.m. and every Wednesday at 10:30 p.m.
  • Comcast On-Demand on Channel 1 – Get Local – Government – State Senate.
