40 years after serving their county during the Vietnam War, two Tamaqua residents were presented their high school diplomas during a Veteran’s Day program held yesterday morning (Tuesday, November 11, 2014) in front of the Tamaqua Area High School.
Vietnam War era veterans Joe Clausius, 63, and Terry Snyder, 65, received their diplomas from Tamaqua Area School District (TASD) Board President Larry Wittig and Superintendent Carol Makuta during the program. Both Clausius and Snyder dropped out of high school prior to graduation and later enlisted in military.
Clausius served in the U.S. Army from 1968 to 1970. Snyder, who enlisted on his mother’s birthday, served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1967 to 1972. Click HERE to view the article and video of the program.
