
Members of the Ryan Township Emergency and Rescue Squad held an open house and truck housing event for their new 2013 Ford D-350 four-wheel drive ambulance on Saturday, October 25, 2014. The new ambulance, which includes a bariatric lift system, is capable of transporting patients weighing up to pounds. It can also transport 2 patients on long boards.
Other specifications include 172″ crash-tested box, Links air ride system/leveling, 5-point safety harness’, air drop system, ducted electronic heat and air, dual sharps and waste containers, all exterior LED lighting, ground lighting, skirt lighting, all LED interior lighting, oxygen tank lift system, electronic oxygen system w/ alarm, MAC’s bariatric lift system, brush guard protector, inverter/battery conditioner, high-intensity interior LED lighting, HEPA air filtration system and on-board suction system.
Equipment on the new ambulance include trauma kit, airway supplies, splinting supplies, stoke baskets, 5-injection control suits, 3-OB supplies kits, 30-infection control masks, diabetic glucose, 2-pulse OX monitors, BP monitor, temperature monitor, built-in child seat, MASS casualty kits, and so on.
The ambulance cost $208,000 and was built by American Emergency Vehicles of North Carolina.
Station Chief Darrell Harris said that a FEMA grant paid $149,800, with the organization financing the difference.
Pastor Bob Adams provided the blessings during the program.
Also present during the event were state Senator David Argall, who presented a State certifcate, and Ryan Township Supervisor Franklin Fetter, who presented a Certificate of Recognition from the township. Argall also presented a proclamation from the Schuylkill County Commissioners.
