The cop killer’s name is intentionally omitted from this and all TamaquaArea.com stories, as to keep his name less-preserved in history. His name is replaced with (a cop killer). Let us remember those that deserve to be remembered.

While stopping by a few St. Clair (Schuylkill County) businesses yesterday (Saturday, November 1, 2014), Pennsylvania Governor Tom Corbett stated his praise to the Pennsylvania State Police, private sector and various local, state and government agencies for their efforts and support that resulted in the recent capture of (a cop killer). Corbett’s visit was hosted by Schuylkill County Commissioner George Halcovage and the local county Republican party.
“We had a very trying time for the Northeast for the past seven weeks,” said Corbett, while speaking to his staff and visitors inside Vito’s Coal Fired Pizza and Restaurant in St. Clair. “The support from the private sector, from the citizens, for the troopers – they would be able to tell you – has been overwhelming.”

“Some of the wives of the troopers started a fundraiser to help support Corporal Dickson’s wife and two children. They have t-shirts they had designed – PSP Strong,” said Corbett. He mentioned that the community’s support has already resulted in about 340,000 t-shirts being made or ordered. “This demonstrated to me the support of the northeast – and really all of Pennsylvania.”
“It took perseverance, patience and number one – it took courage,” added Corbett. “I know he will face justice he deserves when we get through this trial.”
Immediately after the capture on Thursday October 30, Corbett said on Facebook, “Tonight, the fugitive (a cop killer) was captured. He was placed under arrest and was handcuffed with Corporal Bryon Dickson’s handcuffs. I thank the residents of northeast Pennsylvania and our partners in law enforcement agencies who have been involved in this mission… To the family of Corporal Dickson and the family of Trooper Douglas, let me assure you, justice will be served.”

Explaining the reason for Corbett’s visit, Halcovage said the Governor believes in touching base with real people, rather than doing major events.
“It was wonderful that he came to see local businesses,” said Vito Valenti, owner of Vito’s Restaurant. “He visited here 4 years ago and even noticed that we recently expanded our business.”
In addition to Vito’s Restaurant, Corbett visited with people at King’s Plaza in Minersville, Dunkin Donuts in St. Clair, Sophy Jewelers in St Clair, and others.
Other dignitaries present during the visit were Pennsylvania First Lady Susan Corbett, Senator David Argall, Representative Jerry Knowles, and Representative Mike Tobash.
