Hundreds of spectators and parade participants didn’t let pouring rain prevent them from enjoying the 64th Annual Andreas Halloween Parade tonight (Thursday, October 16, 2014). This year’s parade was postponed from yesterday to today due to yesterday’s heavy downpour. The parade is hosted every year by members of the West Penn Lions/Lioness Club, Andreas Sporting Club, Andreas VFW Post 5069 and others.
“We were impressed by how many people stuck around despite the rain, said parade chairwoman and coordinator Becky Neumoyer. “Everything went really well despite the rain.”
Wayne Troxell served as this year’s Grand Marshal.

Becky Neumoyer said that the Andrea’s Halloween Parade has never been canceled, adding that it was postponed a week later about 15 or so years ago.
“The rain didn’t stop the festivities,” said Bob Neumoyer, who has served as master of ceremonies for over six years. “Even though everyone was wet, everyone had a great time.”
The Lions Club stated their continued appreciation to the West Penn Police Department, West Penn Fire Company, Tamaqua Rescue Squad, Quakake Fire Company, Hometown Fire Company, West Penn Fire Police and numerous others.
Following a tradition, parade participants were encouraged to stop inside the Andreas Sporting Club after the parade for free hotdogs and refreshments.
“We couldn’t hold this parade every year without the devoted energy and time from all these supporting volunteers,” added Becky Neumoyer.
