UPDATE:
She was found safely in Shenandoah. Around 1 PM today (Monday, October 13, 2014), Summer Barnes walked into the Shenandoah Police Station. She will be reunited with her loved ones shortly. Thank you to all who shared the story!

Family and loved ones are asking the community for help locating 16-year-old Summer Barnes of Mahoning Township. Barnes was last seen Sunday (October 5, 2014) at the Burger King on Center Street (SR309) in Tamaqua.
After researching online, family members found out that an unidentified male picked her (and another unnamed female juvenile) up around 4-4:30 PM last Sunday from a foster home on Mahoning Drive West in Mahoning Township and dropped them off at the Valero (Fegley’s) Gas Station in Tamaqua. From there, both girls walked across Center Street to Burger King.

Surveillance camera footage shows the two girls inside the Tamaqua Burger King for a short time – around 5:30 PM. From there, both exited the restaurant in an unknown direction. As of today (Monday, October 13, 2014), the whereabouts of both girls are unknown.
Summer last logged into her Facebook the day before she went missing.
Family added that Barnes used to live in a foster home in Tamaqua a number of years ago and might be staying at a home of a friend or acquaintance she met during her time there.
Mother Genivive Skjerseth (who flew in from San Diego to search for her daughter) and stepmother Melissa Nolter-Barnes, of Pottsville, stated that Summer has never done this before. They added, “We love her. She is not in trouble. We want to know she is safe!”
Family said that her name and information has been added to the National Crime Information Center’s (N.C.I.C.) Missing Persons Database. They added that Summer is about 5′ 5″ tall and routinely dyes her hair.
