Briana Sturgis was nominated last year by the Tamaqua Area School District to attend the National Youth Leadership Forum for Digital Media, Film, and Journalism being held in July 2015 at Manhattan College in New York City. Sturgis will be raising donations for her trip during Tamaqua’s upcoming Heritage Festival.
So far, her fundraisers have included Krispy Kreme donuts, Capriotti’s pizzas, and a day where DiMaggio’s donated a percentage of their sales for that day. Sturgis’s next fundraiser will be held at the Tamaqua Heritage Festival scheduled for Sunday, October 12, 2014. She will be selling Yuengling Ice Cream by the First United Methodist Church, 124 West Broad Street.
Sturgis also anticipates holding a spaghetti dinner on Saturday, November 8, 2014 from 11 AM to 5 PM at the First United Methodist Church, and a car wash sometime this spring.
“I look forward to representing the Tamaqua area on my trip next summer,” said Sturgis.
