The 2nd Annual “COLORS for Education” 5K Run/Walk was held on Saturday (September 27, 2014) at the Tamaqua Area School District Sports Stadium. The event, which also included a 1/4 mile run for ages 3-8, involved participants being “plastered” with colored powder as they ran through the course.
A one-of-a-kind experience that is less about speed and more about enjoying time with friends and family while becoming a human canvas,” said volunteer Johanna Ulicny. She added that the event is for runners and walkers of all speeds, ages, shapes and sizes.
Participants were asked to wear white shirts, as to be covered with colored powder throughout the course. All color products are 100 percent natural and safe.
The event benefited the Tamaqua Blue Raider Foundation. The foundation’s mission is to enhance education in Tamaqua schools by funding educational initiatives that are outside the school district’s budget.
