Professor Dr Eugen Wendler, of Reutlingen University in Germany, spent time recently talking to Tamaqua residents and others at the Tamaqua Library about the life of pioneer Friedrich List. During the presentation (held Sept. 23, 2014), Wendler spoke about List’s involvement with the creation of the railroad throughout our area.
Wendler said List traveled 3,000 miles to raise $700,000 to build Tamaqua’s 1831 rail line.
