Turning 93 years old today (Monday, September 29, 2014), Betty Louise Bower Murphy of Tamaqua, was treated to a birthday party on Friday at the Tamaqua Area Adult Day Care Center.
Betty Louise Bower Murphy. Betty worked at numerous jobs in her life, to include textile industry in Tamaqua’s East End section.
She was also a member of the Tamaqua American Legion, where she served as Auxiliary President and held many offices. She was big in her church at Trinity UCC in Tamaqua.
Betty has 3 children, the oldest being Janice married to Jim Gormely, Betty Lou married to Michael Meyers, and the youngest Brad married to Kathy (Tassone). She has 7 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
Her family added that she lives in the house she was born in.
