Taking part in a worldwide global day of student prayer this morning (Wednesday, September 24, 2014), students and other participants held their hands in prayer around the flagpole in front of the Tamaqua Senior High School. Rebecca Ansbach started the prayer, with closing prayer by Antonetta Gerace.
This was repeated by many all over the world at 7 AM today.
The “See You at the Pole”, SYATP, prayer event began in 1990 as a grass-roots movement with 10 students praying at their school. More than twenty years later, millions around the world pray on their campuses on the fourth Wednesday of September.
SYATP is a student-organized, and student-led event.
The event website states the prayer gathering is held to lift up their friends, families, teachers, school and nation to God.
