Mahanoy City Police Department have one person in custody and issued a warrant for another following a stabbing yesterday (Tuesday, September 23, 2014) evening at a home along West Center Street in Mahanoy City.
Whitney Sutton was taken into custody and arraigned. In addition, police have issued an arrest warrant for a second suspect, Ronell Leary, who possibly fled to Philadelphia.
Charges against Sutton and Leary consist of robbery, aggravated assault, criminal conspiracy, possessing instruments of crime, recklessly endangering another person.
Police said this was a targeted attack on the victim and the public is not in danger.
Mahanoy City Police Department are still investigating.
Information released on the police department’s Facebook page reads:
“Mahanoy City police investigated an incident on W. Center St. this evening where one person was stabbed. One of the actors Whitney Sutton was taken into custody and arraigned. A second suspect Ronell Leary has flight to Philadelphia. A warrant will be obtained for his arrest. Officer Kovalewski has filed charges against the two which are: robbery, aggravated assault, Criminal conspiracy, possessing instruments of a crime, recklessly endangering another person. This was a targeted attack on the victim and the public is not in danger.”
