A number of properties are currently up for judicial sale in Tamaqua. They will be taking opening bids on Wednesday, September 24, 2014 at 10 AM at the Schuylkill County Court House in Court Room #1.
Opening bids range from $725 to $2,061.
“The process is easy but there is a process,” said Micah Gursky, Tamaqua Borough Council President. “There is a Bidder Registration Form requires and an Affidavit of Bidder.”

Gursky continued, “The properties are “free and clear” sales, however the Tax Claim Bureau never guarantees title to any property sold. The advantage of this type of sale, from the purchaser’s viewpoint, is that the properties are sold free and clear of liens and encumbrances. There are typically only two Judicial Sales per year. There is a bidding process—and the highest bidder walks away with the property.”
“People come to these sales and purchase properties—often sight-unseen. And not all the buyers turn out to be good property owners,” added Gursky. “It is so important that local people know about this sale so they have a chance to purchase a property that may be next door or across the street.”
