RUSH TOWNSHIP SUPERVISORS DISCUSS NUMEROUS TOPICS DURING REGULAR MEETING (September 18, 2014); (VIDEO)

Rush Township Municipal Meeting, Township Building, Hometown, 8-18-2014 (14)Rush Township Board of Supervisors held their monthly meeting last week (Thursday, September 18, 2014) at the Rush Township Municipal Building in Hometown.
All three supervisors were present during the meeting. They are Chairman Shawn E. Gilbert, Vice-Chairman Robert J. Leibensperger and supervisor Jeaninne Motroni.
Numerous items were brought up.   


 Some included:
– Motion to advertise for bids on a 2008 Ford Crown Victoria police car. (approx. 150,000 miles on it.) Does not include light bar, decals and radio package. It was approved.
– Motion to change October’s meeting from 16th to 27th at 7 PM. It was approved.
– Motion to approve Trick Or Treat Night from November 1, 2014 from 6 PM to 9 PM. It was approved.
– Motion to approve Hometown Fire Police to direct traffic for the Marian Home Football Games (Sept. 26, Oct. 10, Oct. 31). It was approved upon availability.
– Motion to approve Hometown Fire Police to help with Tamaqua’s Halloween Parade on Tuesday, October 28, 2014 at 7 PM, with Oct. 29 as the rain date. It was approved upon availability.
– Motion to approve Ordinance No. 187, adopting the International Property Maintenance Code, as published by the international code council – with certain altercations as the maintenance code of Rush Township. It was approved.
– Motion to buy 4 Motorola high power portable two-way radios from Greens Communications for $15,602. It was approved.
– Motion to purchase a trailer up to $2,000. The trailer is used to hold recycled items. It was approved.
– Rush Police Sergeant Duane Frederick provided the following report for the department:
—— District Justice fine money: $2,242.65; Total miles on police vehicles for July: 3,356; Calls, complaints, and incidents handled by police: 427; Total citations for the month of August: 51; Total parking tickets for the month of August: 16.
– Supervisors Comment: Properties are being posted for water shutoff due to none payment of sewer bills. Those properties that the water can not be shut off will be sent to sheriff sale. (correspondence).
– A number of residents spoke regarding a number of topics. View video below to hear their concerns.
