A litter cleanup will be held in downtown Tamaqua on Saturday, September 20, 2014 from 8:30 AM to 12 PM. The cleanup is being held in conjunction with the countywide Schuylkill Keep It Pretty (SKIP) cleanup.
Community groups and volunteers are asked to meet at 8:45 AM at the M&T Bank parking lot at East Broad and Center streets,” said local organizer and Tamaqua Borough Manager Kevin Steigerwalt. He added that garbage bags, gloves and safety vests will be provided. The areas targeted for cleanup are Broad Street, Center Street, Cottage Avenue, Hegarty Avenue, Mauch Chunk Street, Railroad Street and Rowe Street.
Volunteers participating in the cleanup will leave their garbage bags beside a state highway for collection.
Steigerwalt added, “Tamaqua residents and business owners are encouraged to lend a hand by cleaning their properties and sidewalks on Saturday.”
The Fall 2014 Cleanup is sponsored by Schuylkill Keep It Pretty (SKIP) and the state Department of Transportation.
