Starting tomorrow, Monday, September 15, 2014, volunteers with the Tamaqua Salvation Army Corps will be riding their bicycles from the Tamaqua Salvation Army to Ellwood City PA in support of the local Salvation Army Teen Group.
“Allow me to explain why we are taking this trip,” said organizer Angel Velazquez. “A Salvation Army in Dallas Texas is sponsoring 10 teens from the Tamaqua area to attend the Thanksgiving Day football game and the Red Kettle kick-off at the Halftime show. In order for us to make this possible, we need to fundraise for our trip.”
Donatiosn were raised prior to the bike trip.
The bike ride ends at the Salvation Army’s Camp Allegheny and Retreat Center – located in Ellwood City. Volunteers will then travel back to Tamaqua courtesy of a support vehicle, which will follow behind the volunteers during the trip.
For more information, call the Tamaqua Salvation Army at (570) 668-0410 or (570) 574-9950.
The group expects to leave around 7:45 AM, with prayers said around 7:15 AM.
