
Emergency responders were dispatched around 3:15 PM today (Sunday, September 14, 2014) to a house fire at 704 Alter Street in Hazleton. The house is located at the intersection of West 10th Street.
McAdoo Fire Company, initially placed on mutual aid standby at their station, later responded to a separate call regarding arching wires and wires down elsewhere along Alter Street.
Comments on Facebook said the smoke from the fire could be seen for miles.
Unofficial reports stated the three-story home was vacant.

Responding were firefighters from Hazleton, West Hazleton, American Patient Transport Systems and others. Fire Police detoured traffic around the scene.
