The Mahanoy City Police Department (MCPD) has arrested Alexis M. Colon, 26, last night (Thursday, August 28, 2014) for impersonating a police officer and various other charges. Online reports say that Colon flashed his headlights and beeped his horn behind a MCPD cruiser. Colon, who was wearing a Passaic County, New Jersey police uniform, initially identified himself as a Deputy Sheriff.He was later identified using Live Scan identification system – which electronically transmits fingerprints to the Department of Justice for completion of a criminal record check.
Police said Colon, who was driving a black Honda Accord with a New Jersey license plate, did have in his possession a BB-gun, fake IDs, and fake ammo which looked like a real revolver.
Colon is locked up in Schuylkill County Prison, charged with impersonating an officer, tampering with evidence and public records, giving false ID to officers, and conspiracy.
Information from the Mahanoy City Police Department’s Facebook page reads:
“At time of arrest Colon was wearing a Passaic County Sheriff uniform and identified himself as a Deputy Sheriff. Colon also provided a false name at the time of arrest. Colon’s true identity was found after he was identified using Live Scan. Colon did have in his possession a BB-gun and fake ammo which looked like a real revolver. Colon was driving a Black 2002 Honda Accord bearing NJ registration. Colon will be arraigned today on Officer TJ Rentschlers charges.”
