The No. 9 Mine and Museum in Lansford is holding their Old Fashioned Picnic on Sunday (August 31, 2014) from 10 AM to 5 PM. In addition to the picnic, Civil War reenactors will present a Living History Encampment on the grounds.
The picnic will feature ethnic foods, coal mine tours and museum tours.
Parking, admission to the grounds, music and the Living History Encampment are all free to the public. A fee is charged only for the mine and museum tours and food purchased at the picnic.
The living history Civil War encampment commemorates the 150th anniversary of the Civil War this year. Re-enactors from the 8th Georgia Infantry Co.A, Rome Light Guards will be camped out for the weekend.
The No. 9 Coal Mine and Museum is located at 9 Dock Street in Lansford.
