Senator David Argall and Representative Jerry Knowles visited the Tamaqua YMCA on Thursday, August 7, 2014 as part of the YMCA’s Advocacy Week held August 4 to 8, 2014.
Participants included were the PA State Alliance of YMCAs, the YMCA of Reading and Berks County. During their tour of the newly remodeled Tamaqua YMCA, Argall and Knowles held a “chat and chew” with members and day campers and others. Also, Argall will host his weekly TV show from the Y. Organizers said in the release that the advocacy week as gave an opportunity for people to see the Y in action and become aware of the impact it has on the community.
Argall’s visit was also done as part of his monthly Argall TV Report. The report will be available online in a few months.
Nick Zigmant, Executive Director, Tamaqua YMCA, and Kim Johnson, President & CEO, YMCA of Reading and Berks County, stated their appreciation to Argall and Knowles for their visit.
An additional post of the Reading YMCA’s Facebook page thanks all the elected officials and their staff who visited a Y as part of Advocacy Week.
