LARGE POLICE PRESENCE ALONG SR309 IN TAMAQUA THURSDAY AFTERNOON

Multiple Police Vehicles, SR309, south part of Tamaqua, 8-15-2014 (180)Pictured are photos taken around 1 PM yesterday (Thursday, August 14, 2014) along SR309 at the south end of Tamaqua (at the end of the Mermon Motors lot). Six local police vehicles surrounded an empty red two-door sedan (pictured).
Although not confirmed, it appears that someone ran out of the sedan and into the woods as it was pulled over by a police officer.
Tamaqua Police officer Rick Bekesy was seen walking out of the woods east of the scene.
One woman was handcuffed and taken by officer Bekesy to the Tamaqua Police Station. It is unknown if she was charged with anything.

Responding were 3 police units from Tamaqua and one unit from Coaldale, West Penn, and Rush Township. An unknown official was also on scene.
Hope’s Towing removed the vehicle.
