Surveillance video shows two individuals working together to steal money from a vending machine at the Tamaqua Laundromat on East Broad Street in Tamaqua. The incident took place just before 6 PM on Monday, July 21, 2014.
In the video, you can see one of the thieves using a walking cane to aim the camera in another direction while the other thief uses a device to break into the vending machine and steal the money.

The video also shows the owner of the property, who was viewing the surveillance footage from his office next door, confronting the individuals as they were leaving.
Despite arriving in a vehicle, both thieves escaped on foot in opposite directions along US209.
The Laundromat owner added that one of the thieves later returned and drove off in a dark blue/black Volkswagen Jetta – parked along the adjacent train tracks. The owner took a photo of the vehicle and its license plate as it was turning east on US209.
The thief with the cane appeared to be wearing a white cap, long-sleeve brown shirt with a small diamond logo and letters VOLCOM printed on it, grey sweatpants, black shoes and white sox. He also appeared to have a mustache, although it is not known if it was real. While exiting the side steps to the Laundromat, the suspect didn’t use the cane to support himself. This might mean that the cane and the “limp” was used to mislead investigators and prevent identification.
The second thief, who appeared taller, was wearing a dark long-sleeve shirt, dark cap, dark jean shorts, mostly-white shoes and white sox.
There have been a number of thefts involving vending machines over the past month in Schuylkill and Carbon counties. It is not yet known if the Tamaqua incident is related. Tamaqua Police are investigating.
