A woman escaped serious injury around 3:15 PM yesterday (Saturday, August 9, 2014) after crashing her blue 2013 Dodge Grand Caravan down an embankment off of Interstate 81 in Ryan Township.
The incident occurred northound at mile marker 125.2. The woman, identified as Scherri Jacobsen, 62, Washington D.C., refused treatment. Traveling in the left lane, Jacobsen fell asleep, steering into the right lane and hitting the driver’s side rear of a gray 2013 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Lee Kile, 52, of Berwick.
Officials on scene said the woman was very lucky to avoid all the trees down the embankment.
Responding were Ryan Township Fire Company, Altamont Fire Company Shenandoah Ambulance and Pennsylvania State Police.
