Dog Walker Crime Watch, Police Department, Mahanoy City, STORY, 8-10-2014The Mahanoy City Police Department have introduced a new crime watch awareness program which encourages dog walkers to serve as “extra eyes and ears” for local law enforcement.
Below is information about the new program, called ‘Dog Walker Watch’, as listed recently on the department’s Facebook page:

Dog Walker Watch (DWW) is a crime awareness program sponsored by the Nat’l Assoc. of Town Watch (NATW) and coordinated locally by law enforcement agencies or other community organizations. DWW encourages dog walkers to serve as “extra eyes and ears” for local law enforcement. There are dozens of dog walkers throughout the community who are often preoccupied with texting, emailing, phone calls, etc. during their neighborhood walks. DWW trains individuals on how to effectively observe and report criminal activity.
A one-hour training session, to be scheduled, will include how to observe, identify and report suspicious persons, vehicles and activity.
If interested, call DWW@mahanoycitypolice.us or call (570) 773-2313, extension 303.
