Captain Merle Wertman, Hometown Fire Police, didn’t let his 69th birthday stop him from donating his time with fellow volunteers during a call of a fatality along Morea Road yesterday (Thursday, July 31, 2014) in Mahanoy Township. Wertman has volunteered 41 years with Hometown and other emergency services.
