Staged at the intersection of Morea Road and Burma Road, West End Fire Company firefighters detour traffic around the scene.

A 66-year old tree service worker was killed after being struck by a passing van along Frackville-Morea Road in Mahanoy Township today (Thursday, July 31, 2014).
The incident occurred before 1 PM in the area of the Fabcon plant entrance located about a half-mile from SR54.
Fire police from Hometown Fire Company and West End Fire Company of Mahanoy City detoured traffic around the scene for the duration.
The road was still closed as of 2 PM today.
An online story via the Republican Herald newspaper lists William R. Hoffman, 66, of Pottsville, as the victim.
