CHIMNEY IN LANSFORD STRUCK BY LIGHTNING; BOY TAKEN TO HOSPITAL AS A PRECAUTION

Damage After Lightning Strike Chimney in Lansford, 7-23-2014 (6)Firefighters were called around 4:30 PM today (Wednesday, July 23, 2014) to 502 East Patterson Street in Lansford after its chimney was struck by lightning during a strong thunderstorm. The strike caused bricks and debris to fall in the yard and front sidewalk of the property.
In addition, an 11-year old boy was taken to St. Luke’s Hospital – Miners Campus following the incident. A neighbor said the boy was in the area of the lightning strike. He added that he was taken to the hospital as a precaution. Dispatchers said the person who was hurt was not directly hit by the lightning strike.
Lansford Fire Company responded and used their ladder-truck to remove loose bricks from the top of the chimney. Lansford Police and Lehighton Ambulance also responded.
