St. Gabriel’s Italian Club and St. Joseph’s Parish in Summit Hill held their annual Gabriel of Our Lady of Sorrows Procession through the western section of the borough yesterday (Sunday, July 20, 2014). The procession was held on the third day of the church’s 80th Annual Parish Festival.
Reverend James J. Burdess led the procession. Kevin Collevechio, current President of St. Gabriel’s Club, said the tradition started 80 years ago.
Members also stated their appreciation to past President Vince Valentini, 79, for his many years of service to the club. They added that Valentini, who watched Sunday’s procession from his front porch, was one of the key figures that kept the tradition going all these years.
Both Burdess and Collevechio stated their appreciation to all parishioners, club members and supporters.
Summit Hill Fire Police directed traffic during the procession.
