Scouts, leaders and parents held a Blue and Gold Ceremony on Saturday, May 31, 2014 for scouts Christopher Smith, Eric Richardson, Craig Conville, Wyatt Mumich, and Nicholas Wall.
Most Cub Scouts celebrate Scouting Anniversary Week in February with a “birthday party” called the “Blue and Gold Banquet.” In nearly all packs, the banquet is the highlight of the year. It brings families together for an evening of fun and cheer. It’s often the pack meeting for February.
The purpose of the blue and gold banquet is to celebrate the pack’s anniversary, thank pack leaders and other adults who have helped the pack, and inspire the leaders, Scouts, and parents. Packs often like to invite former members and other Scouting or community leaders to take part in their blue and gold banquet.
The banquet can be like a regular pack meeting, with songs, skits, stunts, and awards. Or it can be something different and a little more special. Your pack may decide to bring in an entertainer such as a magician or a storyteller. Or you could have a video or slide show of what the pack did over the past year.
A good banquet needs lots of planning. Most packs begin to plan at least two months ahead of time.
Providing a FOS presentation during the program was Black Rock District Chairman Jerry Beaver.
Cub Master Scott Winterburn provided the invocation, announcement and awards.
Cub Scouts who have completed their Lion Cub Year were Tyler Dibartolo, Logan Buccieri, Christopher Smith, Ty Maurer, Nicholas Postupack and Ashlon Dale.
Receiving Tiger awards were Cory Martin, Mason Pennbirth and Michael Rascavage.
Receiving Wolf Cub awards were Benjamin Houser, Timothy Berg, Eric Richardson, Alex Steigerwalt, Aiden Mlynek, Jacob Delp, Nicholas Dibartolo, Lennon Forster, Miles Liebsch and Jayden Strohl.
Receiving Jr. Weblo awards were Derek DeAngelo, Ahn Griffin, Wyatt Mumich, Julio Hererra, Craig Grebe, Colby Kistler, Connor Hill and Develin Rascavage.
Receiving Bear Cub awards were Alec Nattress, Adam Bachert, Nelson Bensinger, Liam Conforti, Bryce Bieber, Craig Conville, Logan Girard and Ethan Lapp.
Receiving Gold Arrow Points (Wolf or Bear scouts) were Nelson Bensinger, Ethan Lapp, Craig Conville and Alec Nattress.
Receiving Arrow of Light awards were Nicholas Wall, Matthew Greenzweig, Toby Berg, Shane O’Neil, Tyler Hazlett and Connor Craddoch. Winterburn said, “The arrow shaft is straight and true to remind a scout to be straight and true in keeping in his promises. The feathers on this arrow guide it on its course just as the ideals of scouting guide a boy on his course through life.”
