Staff, board members and volunteers with St. Luke’s Hospital – Miners Campus held their Black Diamond Garden Party Benefit on Saturday (May 31, 2014) on the grounds of the Harry Packer & Asa Packer Mansions in Jim Thorpe.
Bill Moyer, President, St. Luke’s Miners Campus said the proceeds from this year’s event will be used to purchase patient beds that are designed to give extra support for patient entry and exit, as well as promote patient healing. The beds provide advanced options that make them a valuable tool in efficient patient care.
“Past Black Diamond events have helped create a medical scholarship fund, construct a new Heart & Vascular Center and Critical Care Unit, establish a new day room for our nursing home residents, develop a Cardiopulmonary Rehab Unit and has helped us move forward with plans for a new Surgical Suite. The event is truly a celebration with our community and serves as a major fundraiser for our hospital,” added Moyer.
Diane Luicana, Black Diamond Community Chair, said, “We were excited to have Peggy Sue O’Donnell as our Honorary Chairperson this year.”
In addition to special foods and tours of the Asa Packer Mansion, this year’s event featured special entertainment from the Emerald Isle Irish Step Dancers of Pittston.
Artist Mrs. Gerri Gardiner also attended the event to share her artwork she created for the event.
