GOOD SAMARITAN FINDS STOLEN CHILD CARE BUGGY IN TAMAQUA

6-Seat Bye Bye Buggy Found in Tamaqua, 6-4-2014 (3)After seeing online postings tonight (Wednesday, June 4, 2014) about a stolen child care buggy in Tamaqua, a good Samaritan contacted the owner and Tamaqua Crime Watch to report that he had recently pulled a similar buggy from the side of a nearby creek.
The 6-seat Bye Bye Buggy was noted missing around 2 PM today by Tina Love, owner of Tamaqua Child Care Center (at the intersection of East Broad Street and Laurel Street).
John Selby, owner of JMS Tree Works in Hometown, said he spotted the buggy alongside a creek around 5 PM today while checking on his trucks stored at M & M Self Storage. The storage facility is located at the bottom of Laurel Street and adjacent to the rear of the Jamesway Plaza, now called BET Plaza. The creek runs between the properties alongside the storage facility.
Selby guessed that one or more persons tried pushing the buggy through an adjacent wooded path that connects the bottom of Laurel Street to the back of BET Plaza when they got it stuck on the side of the intersecting creek.
He added that its weight and awkward shape probably prevented the thief/thieves from taking it any further. The manufacture lists its weight as 112 pounds. A 6-seater retails for about $1,250.
Love, on Facebook, praised the good Samaritan and the “power of the internet” for the quick recovery.
