The driver of this tri-axle dump truck was injured this afternoon (Monday, June 2, 2014) after crashing his truck into a tree along westbound US209 between Nesquehoning and Lansford (in the area called Wash Shanty Curve). From the submitted photos, it doesn’t appear that the truck was hauling anything. The incident occurred around 1:30 PM.
The man, who was driving for C. Bird Jr. Trucking of Weatherly, requested EMS for possible injury to his ribs.
Also responding were Nesquehoning Police and Nesquehoning Fire Department.
Talk online states that police requested fire police to shut down the road due to downed power lines.
Officials said the cause of the incident was a tire blowout.
It is unknown if the road was shutdown or for how long.
As of 3:15 PM, drivers, on Facebook, said the road was open.
