Firefighters and other emergency responders from a number of local area organizations received a medical helicopter safety orientation course recently in Coaldale. The course, which focused on familiarizing personnel with safe operation around a helicopter, involved classroom training at the Coaldale Fire Company and outside training via “Medivac 4” helicopter that landed at the C.H.O.S.E. Field behind the fire company.
Medivac has four area helicopters; of which are staged in East Stroudsburg, Hazleton, Pottsville and Kutztown.
Instructing the class was Donald Shambo Jr. (Flight Paramedic). Medivac 4 crew members were Larie Wilson (EMS Pilot), Jason Kramer (RN/CCRN/Flight Nurse), and Mark Walch (Flight Paramedic).
Participating fire companies were Coaldale Fire Company, Lansford Fire Company, Nesquehoning Fire Company and New Columbus Fire Company.
