The Tamaqua Volunteers group is encouraging Facebook and YouTube users to post videos of people littering shopping carts around Tamaqua. Some of those videos might be posted on TamaquaArea.com.
Volunteers point out that they have nothing against someone taking a cart from the store, as everybody doesn’t have transportation. But when that person chooses to litter the cart instead of returning it, that is a problem.
Members of the group and area store employees routinely pick up littered carts throughout the borough.
Volunteers said that the reward posted over the past few years has greatly limited the amount of cart litterbugs. They added that the reward is no longer being offered, but still encourage people to post videos (not photos) of litterbugs online.
