Tamaqua Area High School seniors Damian Muñoz and Sam Postupack were presented prestigious awards by TAMS/HS Band Director Mark E. Beltz during Tamaqua’s Spring Band Concert held May 1, 2014 at the Tamaqua Area Auditorium.
Muñoz earned the John Philip Sousa Band Award. Established at ELCO High School in 1970, the John Philip Sousa Band Award is presented to the outstanding graduating senior band member. The recipient must demonstrate the highest levels of dedication, loyalty, character, and discipline to the band program while achieving the highest musical standards required of instrumental music.
Postupack earned the Patrick Gilmore Award. Established in 2000, the Patrick S. Gilmore Band Award is presented to an outstanding graduating senior band member demonstrating the greatest improvement in band. The recipient must demonstrate dedication, loyalty, character, and discipline to the band program while achieving the highest musical standards required of instrumental music.
