Diakon Community Services and the Tamaqua Salvation Army have teamed up to host free workshops dedicated to helping older individuals living with chronic conditions.
Some conditions consist of arthritis, COPD, asthma, bronchitis, depression, emphysema, heart disease and diabetes.
The free workshops, titled Living a Healthy Life, last six weeks and are designed by Stanford University to help improve health for those living with chronic conditions. The workshops will continue 12:30 PM to 3 PM on April 24, 2014 and May 8, 15, 22 and 29, 2014 at the Tamaqua Salvation Army.
“The chronic disease self-management workshop, developed for people 50 and older, is designed to help improve healthy behavior and health status and decrease days spent in the hospital,” said Dina Depos, Development Associate/Programs Coordinator, Tamaqua Salvation Army.
It is being offered through Prime Time Health, managed by Diakon Community Services under a contract with the Schuylkill County Office of Senior Services.
Registration is required. For more information, call (570) 624-3017.
