Contractors spent most of the day today (Wednesday, April 16, 2014) demolishing the property at 292 South Third Street in Coaldale. The home is located at the end of 8 row homes from 278 to 292 South 3rd Street.
Schuylkill County Parcel lists the Coaldale Borough as the current owner of the property. The property, estimated to be built in 1920, was assessed last year for $20 to Edward and Margaret Smith. The borough has owned the property since August 14, 2013.
Demolishing the property are Northeast Industrial SVCS Corporation of Shamokin, who submitted the lowest bid in December ($16,770) to tear it down. When asked who paid to tear it down, they said the invoice stated “Schuylkill County”.
A passerby, who wished to remain anonymous, stated how impressed he was that the demolition crew could tear down just the end home without affected the other connected row homes.
